Online initiative for APF
During May I conceived & produced a dedicated website to help support members of the Association of Professional Futurists (APF) going to the World Future Society’s conference in Vancouver, Canada.
Called ‘Postcards from Vancouver‘ this experimental project was designed to automatically aggregate the social media output of members as they attended the wide variety of professional development sessions, seminars, workshops and social receptions available.
Despite the inconsistent provision of wifi services at the conference and the relatively higher costs of data usage in North America – in total – the site pulled in nearly 500 individual items of content over the 5 days it was run for.

Hello Guy,
I am going to the WFS conference in Toronto this July.
Do you think that you might continue your effort on this Postcards from X?
Hi James,
I’m just beginning to help plan some online activities for the APF during 2012.
There’s been interest in continuing to support APF members at the WFS conference and so I think some form of initiative will be put forward – I’ve a few new ideas / formats which I’m starting to research to see if we can enhance the ‘Postcards’ approach.
Always looking for fellow contributors / participants, so feel free to drop me line here or on the listserv if you’d like me to let you know how the idea progresses.
Best.
Guy
